Jagruti Savant (b. 1996, Mumbai) is a Mumbai-based artist whose interdisciplinary practice centers on photography, exploring themes of labor, migration, identity, and personal freedom through the lens of her experiences working aboard a cruise liner. Rooted in her Indian cultural heritage, the mythological narratives passed down by her grandparents, and autobiographical experiences, her work employs a raw, intuitive visual language that challenges capitalist ideals of productivity and excess. Her interest in photography was sparked by her maternal grandfather, a professional photographer and artist. Savant earned a Bachelor's degree in Animation and Visual Effects from Frameboxx, Mumbai, before completing an MFA in Photography at the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles.
